I saw Billy and Talas so many years ago (about '85 or '86) at The Country Manor Banquet Center in Manchester, MO, and in such an unlikey venue, we were treated to displays of musicianship and pure showmanship likes of which we'd never seen before or since, not in that setting. Afterwards, Billy stopped, talked to each of us, perused pictures from other stops on the tour, and even hung out an had a beer with us after the show, when the bouncers were moving us to the door. Made us his personal guests. That kind of class and humility is rare in this business at the talent level he possesses, perhaps even unique. Since that time, I've matured to an accomplished local musician here in the St. Louis scene, and we here in town hold a bond and camaraderie with each other, share war stories, enjoy company, and love to share the joy of performing live rock and roll. That night, '86, Billy was as though he was just one of the guys; humble, unassuming, and sharing the joy of live performing with all of us that would take the time to enjoy it with him. That's an impression that I'll carry with me all my life, that taught me what being a musician is all about. Rock on, Billy. Come back to St. Louis, and let's have a Bud Light, and share war stories.
